Sunday Funday: Snowed in!

What a weekend!!! It started snowing at our house at 6pm on Friday, and didn’t stop until 10pm on Saturday. Needless to say we got almost 31 inches of snow, and there were driving bans all over the county. Luckily we didn’t lose power and we got to stay toasty warm inside. It was so much windy yesterday that we weren’t able to play outside, but today was perfect for playing. I snapped a few pictures of my little guy and our dog playing, as well as some shots showing how awful the snow was. They haven’t lifted the driving bans yet, so we weren’t able to drive to our favorite sledding spot. Hopefully tomorrow though!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

My hubby got to do all the shoveling since I’m pregnant. :-p

Though there was a lot of work with shoveling, some fun was had. Lol. Our dog absolutely LOVED it out there and didn’t want to come inside. Haha

Super Saturday: Apple Picking

Today we got to try something new. We went apple picking! There’s a cute orchard not too far from us, and we decided it was a great day to check it out. We do pick your own pumpkins every year, but we’ve never done the pick your own apples. Anyway, we had an absolute blast! We were having so much fun that we didn’t even realize how many apples we picked. It ended up being 25 pounds of apples. That’s a LOT of apples!!! We picked a few pumpkins as well. I got some pretty cute pictures of Liam while we were there. He had so much fun. He ran up and down the rows talking about the different kinds of apples, and how huge some of them were. ๐Ÿ™‚

We got home and sorted all the apples because we ended up picking 5 different kinds. After sorting all the apples, I washed them and laid them on the counter to dry. We talked about what we wanted to do with all of them. My husband and I decided on apple dumplings, and Liam said he wanted to make some homemade applesauce! We also kept quite a few to eat! ๐Ÿ™‚ Lets just say tomorrow will be a fun filled day of baking! I’m sure my house is going to smell like an apple factory. ๐Ÿ˜€ I’ll be sure to get some pictures and let y’all know how it went!!

Sunday Funday: Coloring Eggs

So today we decided to color eggs since we are going to be crazy busy next weekend, and the following weekend is Easter!

We always have so much fun coloring eggs, and we like to get creative and silly. Each year we pick out a different kit. We have done plain eggs, metallic eggs, tie dye eggs, one year I found a kit to make the eggs into monsters, and this year we went with a silly face kit. We had a blast creating different silly faces.

Liam is getting really good at not just dropping the eggs in and splashing all over the table. I found a really cute egg dipper this year. He LOVED it!

Liam and daddy made some silly eggs!

Liam decided I needed to make a silly face like my silly egg. Lol.

Recipe: Peanut Butter Eggs

Told y’all I’d throw some sweet treats your way. Ha ha. Anyway, with Easter fast approaching, Liam and I decided to make peanut butter eggs. We had so much fun making them, and I know we’ll enjoy eating them as well!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

I know there are a ton of different ways to make these. Some people put coconut in theirs, others add graham cracker crumbs. We just like plain peanut butter. Here is the recipe for mine.

1 cup creamy peanut butter
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups confectioners sugar (can use more or less. I use less if I want more of a Pb taste)
Chocolate chips (semi sweet, milk chocolate, dark chocolate….use whatever you like.)

In bowl, mix peanut butter, butter and vanilla until well blended.

Gradually add confectioners sugar.

Shape in to 16 eggs and place onto cookie sheets lined with wax paper.

Lick spoon. (optional) ๐Ÿ™‚

Refridgerate 30 minutes or until firm.

Melt chocolate chips.

Dip eggs in chocolate.

Return to fridge until chocolate hardens.

Mine usually makes more than 16 because I make smaller eggs for Liam. I’m also the worlds worst chocolate-er, so that’s why I don’t have pictures of themย chocolated. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
